Message from the Meeting Chair
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 73rd COS Annual Meeting in beautiful Qu�bec City. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work done by the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) planning committee, and by our CPD Manager, Inika Anderson, and our Executive Director and C.E.O. , Jennifer Brunet-Colvey, all of whom have worked together to bring you an outstanding scientific program. There will be some significant improvements in this year's meeting based on feedback we have received from our membership:
- Surgical wet labs on Tuesday June 29th, which will offer individualized hands on instruction on important new surgical techniques:
- Cataract Wet Lab: Management of Astigmatism- directed by Ike Ahmed and Lindsay Ong-Tone
- Cornea Wet Lab: Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty- directed by Guillermo Rocha and Rusty Ritenour
- Glaucoma Wet Lab on New Surgical Technologies - directed by Paul Harasymowycz
- A workshop on Electronic Medical Records directed by Robert Schertzer
- A new and improved Residents' Program with workshops on Monday June 28th
Some of the many highlights of this year's meeting are:
- Dr Emmett Cunningham, Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology Lecture: A Practical Approach to the use of Corticosteroids in Patients with Uveitis
- Dr Emily Chew, E.A. Baker Lecture: Update on Age-Related Macular Degeneration
- Dr Todd Margolis, Royal College Lecture: Ocular Surface Disease, Please Don't Call It Dry Eye
With all the recent innovations in ophthalmology, this is truly an exciting time to be practising. During my term as Chair of CPD, I would like to build on the extensive scope of this meeting to provide each of us with an outstanding learning opportunity. I look forward to seeing you in Qu�bec City.
