Description
The COS-STS is a multimedia, practical-based program focused on advances in surgical techniques for the general ophthalmologist. This year's focus is on astigmatic correction of the cataract patient using various strategies.

NOTE: This course is a prerequisite for enrollment in the corresponding COS cataract surgery wet lab.

Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • discuss the management of astigmatism using corneal incision-based techniques and lens-based techniques
  • understand the specific techniques and application of nomograms for corneal relaxing incisions in treating astigmatism either at the time of surgery or postoperatively
  • explain the use of toric intraocular lenses and preop/intraop marking strategies
