Skills transfer courses are intended to provide intensive instruction leading to new knowledge and/or skills. These hands-on workshops offer instruction in surgical and diagnostic techniques, with supervision from an experienced facilitator and a low participant-to-instructor ratio. Attendance is limited to physicians only, except where noted in the course description. A non-refundable registration fee applies to skills transfer courses. You may register for one skills transfer course only. You must register in advance. On-site registration is not allowed.
0800-1100 Glaucoma skills transfer course | New glaucoma procedures: Trabectome, I-Stent, Canaloplasty, Express Shunt Implantation
This is short didactic course followed by ample time of surgical practice. There will be 1 to 2 participants per scope and participants will have the opportunity to practice each technique.

1300-1430 Cataract skills transfer course | Hands-on with advanced surgical devices and instrumentation
One participant per scope. Each participant would have up to 1.5 hour at the scope, gaining experience with advanced devices such as pupillary rings, iris hooks, capsule retractors, capsule tension rings, and micro-forceps.

1300-1600 Cornea skills transfer course | Severe ocular surface disease - Diagnosis and management
This is a case-based skills course focused on diagnosis and management of severe ocular surface disease. In this 3-hour session, participants will be divided into 3 groups and will rotate through each of the topics. Topics will include: Steven Johnson Syndrome, limbal stem cell deficiency, keratoprosthesis, mucous membrane grafting, aniridia keratopathy, persistent epithelial defects, and ocular cicatricial pemphigoid.
