0930-1015 | Expect the unexpected · Craig Simms, COMT, CDOS, ROUB, COP « To err is human; to forgive, divine. » A quote from Alexander Pope’s poem « An Essay on Criticism » in 1711 spells out that as humans we do make mistakes. But times have changed since 1711 and ophthalmic technicians appear to be scrutinized more and more lately. With added pressures of increasing patient numbers and barely increasing staffing, today’s ophthalmic technician is faced with doing more with less. This inherently leads to working faster and increasing the potential for errors. This course will review errors observed by the author over a 20 year career during charting or while performing ophthalmic testing and offer some suggestion to help reduce the chances of error in an eye clinic. |
