The South Pacific Calls – Comprehensive Ophthalmologist, Saipan, Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (Private Clinic)
(posted October 18, 2024)
Salary $415,000 USD
Marianas Eye Institute, on the island of Saipan, seeks a full-time or locum comprehensive ophthalmologist to serve as the only source of ophthalmic care for the island’s 60,000+ underserved people. It’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a diverse, highly appreciative population, in a beautiful spot, while earning a high salary in US dollars, with a very low tax structure. The island is a little-known piece of the US: “The Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands” or CNMI. Detailed information about the position, the lifestyle, and life on the island is on our website. Inquire with me with your CV, for access to the password protected page. You may reach me at davidkhorram (at) gmail (dot) com.
Retina Physician magazine has called us “one of the best-equipped eye clinics in the Asia-Pacific region”, and we have all you’d expect from a modern clinic – OCT, Humphrey Visual Field, Corneal topography, an IOL Master, retinal camera with fluorescein, etc. Most of the practice is focused on cataracts and treatment of diabetic retinopathy with injections and laser. The incomes on the island are low, so there is no demand for refractive IOLs and no refractive surgery. But of course, as the only ophthalmologist, the work is diverse.
There is a small community of Canadian and US physicians working at the island’s hospital. Great weather, but sadly no hockey.
It’s a great opportunity for those with a sense of adventure, looking to explore other interests, seeking a quieter life away from North America, or for those nearing retirement. It’s perfect for families too. And it’s a tremendous opportunity to be of true service, working in a global setting, at a great salary.
Must be licensed to practice in the US or Canada.
